I went to bed last night thinking it would be too overwhelming to start my blog on the day before I flew to New York City, but I was so disturbed and angry about what is going on with the presidential election, I had to take the action I have been planning over the last few weeks, so this morning I started this blog and an online petition. When I get to New York, I plan to hand out flyers directing people to my blog and asking them to sign my petition.
I was arrested last Friday evening at the French Quarter Fest while riding my bike. The cops were on the lookout for someone who looked like a grainy picture they were gazing at on their cell phones. While in handcuffs, I asked them to lock my bike to the stop sign, but they locked my lock to the basket. I spent 31 hours in lockup. I was released at 1:00 am on Sunday morning. When I returned to the spot where I was arrested and the stop sign where I asked them to lock my bike, it was not there. The property office has no record of my bike. When I went to the police station, they claimed they locked up my bike and insisted it must have been stolen. It was stolen either by the cops or because of their neglect. Now I have to take action, and sue the N.O.P.D. if that’s what it takes to get justice, so this does not happen to other people.
I did not choose to become a political activist, I have been forced to become a political activist on two fronts. I hope enjoy what I have to say over the coming days, weeks and months
